Choose sailing for the right reason
A sailing yacht changes the rhythm of a charter. The route and timing respond to wind and sea, and the deck layout can involve more movement around sailing equipment. Tell the organiser how experienced the party is and whether guests want to participate or simply enjoy a skippered outing.
Comfort at anchor and comfort under sail are not identical. Ask about shaded cockpit seating, the route to the toilet and any access needs. A day party needs the appropriate permitted capacity even when the yacht has several cabins.
Sleeping accommodation should not be used to guess the cruising limit.
Let the plan remain adaptable
Around southern Corsica, a preferred destination should remain subject to the captain's assessment. A Lavezzi request, a cliff route and a longer passage across the strait each create different considerations. The skipper can advise what suits the actual yacht and the expected conditions.
Clarify whether the price includes the skipper, other crew, fuel used by the engine and any port costs. A sailing charter may still use the engine when appropriate. The proposal should identify the vessel and explain the booking and weather conditions before you commit.
Charter questions
Can the model’s maximum speed set the day’s timetable?
No. A brochure figure does not account for the sea, the actual yacht or the captain’s operating plan. Use the proposed itinerary and return arrangements when deciding whether the day suits your guests.
