A wider stern when the yacht is at rest

Its brochure gives 4.52 metres closed and 6.31 metres open; the current model page describes a 43-foot yacht. One cabin and a convertible dinette sit below the open cockpit, with a rotating Transformer platform available as an option.

This combination makes time at anchor a central reason to consider the R4. The separate WA, XT and Icone versions need their own layout checks.

Choose the pause before the passage

An expandable stern is most relevant when the day leaves enough time to use it. A Bonifacio request with constant changes of anchorage may miss that benefit. Start with the experience you want at rest: a swim, a quiet conversation close to the water or a light lunch in the cockpit. Give the skipper room to find a suitable setting, and allow the crew to manage the opening deck elements before the party spreads out.

Keep comfort in an open setting

The R4’s low silhouette places the group close to the sea, but it is still important to understand the actual shade arrangement. Ask where everyone can sit comfortably during the warmest part of the day and how the seating changes when the deck is opened. Pack a useful layer for the passage back, even after a sunny afternoon. Guests who prefer an enclosed main lounge may be better served by a different model, while still keeping the same coastal plan.

Use the lower deck with a clear purpose

A cabin gives the party a private space for changing or a short rest. A converted dinette offers a different sort of accommodation, so an overnight enquiry should allocate sleeping places explicitly. For a day, explain whether indoor facilities are a main requirement or simply a useful addition. This keeps the comparison centred on the way the yacht will actually be used, rather than assuming an overnight layout automatically suits every daytime party.

Describe the water access you need

Tell us who hopes to swim and who would rather remain aboard. Mention children, nervous swimmers or anyone who needs help with steps. The proposal can then address the actual platform, ladder and crew support. Include your Bonifacio boarding and return times, leaving space for a careful harbour approach after the day outside.

Charter questions

Can the side extensions be used underway?

Treat them as an at-rest feature operated by the crew under the yacht’s procedures. The skipper decides when the location and conditions suit their use.

Is the R4 XT the same model?

No. The XT has a different extending stern-platform concept. This page describes the original R4 reference, so use the full variant name in a request.
